2 Days · 1 Night
Cruise the Sekonyer River on a traditional wooden klotok boat, witness wild orangutans at Tanjung Harapan feeding station, and sleep under a canopy of fireflies.
Every journey with The Real Borneo starts at Kumai harbour and ends somewhere much quieter - sitting still at a forest feeding camp, watching a wild orangutan move through the canopy just a few meters away. The kelotok is simply how you get there; the forest does the rest.
A deep-dive expedition connecting wildlife encounters with authentic community culture. Visit the Tanjung Harapan orangutan feeding station, experience a traditional Sei Sekonyer village welcome and Batimung spa treatment, plant native saplings at Jerumbun, enjoy river fishing and a campfire fish grill dinner, search for tarsiers on a night trek, and sleep 1 night on the klotok and 1 night camping at the Jerumbun campsite.
On the open deck of the kelotok, under mosquito nets and the stars — it's one of the best parts of the trip. Mattresses and bedding are provided.
Optional extras - a hotel night before or after, a transfer or a tour. Add them here and confirm when you book.
Add a required add-on above to include this.
Insurance included
The mandatory Tanjung Puting park micro-insurance is included, and The Real Borneo covers the premium. We still recommend comprehensive travel insurance for full peace of mind.
Provider: PT Asuransi Jiwa Syariah Kitabisa (SalingJaga), in cooperation with Balai Taman Nasional Tanjung Puting.
What it covers
Validity
From check-in at Dermaga Kumai until check-out at Dermaga Kumai, the full duration of your stay in the park.
Still recommended
We still recommend comprehensive travel insurance so you're covered for events outside this micro-insurance.
Every trip you book puts a share of what you pay directly back into the forest, supporting orangutan protection and the local community that keeps it wild.
Naturalists who grew up on these rivers and know where the forest comes alive.
A maximum of eight guests per kelotok, so the forest stays quiet.
Part of every booking supports orangutan protection and the local community that protects this forest.
Pickup is at Iskandar Airport in Pangkalan Bun, or from your Pangkalan Bun hotel, followed by a short transfer to Kumai harbour, where your kelotok is waiting.
This trip starts and ends in Pangkalan Bun / Kumai, Central Kalimantan.
A moderate trip that welcomes all ages - most of it is spent aboard the kelotok. Visiting the feeding camps involves some walking on forest boardwalks and uneven trails, so comfortable shoes help.
Date changes are permitted up to 45 days before travel (within 45 days handled strictly on a best-effort basis, subject to boat, guide, and operational availability). A 30% deposit is required upon booking confirmation, with the 70% balance due strictly 30 days before travel.
Light, breathable clothing, insect repellent, a hat, a power bank, a reusable water bottle, and a camera - the light at the feeding camps is worth it.

We work in active partnership with both FNPF and Tanjung Lestari on our Sekonyer Village and Jerumbun Conservation visits. Every trip directly supports habitat recovery and sustainable community initiatives through per-guest contributions.
FNPF: Friends of Nature, People and Forest (FNPF) is an acclaimed Indonesian non-profit NGO dedicated to wildlife habitat protection and biodiversity conservation across Indonesia. At Jerumbun, FNPF leads reforestation initiatives by planting native trees to restore critical rainforest corridors for wild orangutans.
Tanjung Lestari: Tanjung Lestari is a dedicated local foundation committed to environmental sustainability and community-led conservation around Tanjung Puting. Through grassroots forestry management and education, they support local villages to safeguard the surrounding rainforest ecosystem.
Every trip includes the mandatory park micro-insurance - the premium is on us.
